1. What’s your favourite colour? [Why?]

Answer 1: My favourite colour is pink, and I guess many other girls like me also have a fascination with this colour. Pink is a delicate colour that means sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness. Pink is the colour of the universal love of oneself and others. I love it more than any other colour.

Màu sắc yêu thích của tôi là màu hồng và tôi đoán nhiều cô gái khác giống như tôi cũng say mê màu này. Màu hồng là một màu tinh tế có nghĩa là ngọt ngào, dễ thương, vui tươi, dễ thương, lãng mạn, quyến rũ, nữ tính và dịu dàng. Màu hồng là màu của tình yêu bao la dành cho bản thân và người khác. Tôi yêu nó hơn bất kỳ màu nào khác.

Answer 2: My favourite colour is blue - the colour of the ocean and the sky. This colour is associated with depth and stability and symbolizes wisdom, trust, confidence, intelligence, faith, and heaven. From my childhood, I had been attracted to this colour and always preferred blue pairs of jeans.  I believe blue is a colour that suits me and perhaps this is one of the reasons I like it so much.

Màu sắc yêu thích của tôi là xanh lam - màu của đại dương và bầu trời. Màu này gắn liền với chiều sâu và sự ổn định, tượng trưng cho trí tuệ, sự tin tưởng, sự tự tin, trí thông minh, đức tin và thiên đường. Từ nhỏ, tôi đã bị thu hút bởi màu sắc này và luôn thích những chiếc quần jeans màu xanh. Tôi tin rằng màu xanh là màu hợp với tôi và có lẽ đây là một trong những lý do khiến tôi rất thích nó.

2. Do you like the same colours now as you did when you were younger? [Why/Why not?]

Answer 1: Yes, pink has always been my favourite colour. My father bought me a beautiful pink doll when I was only 4 years old, and my parents painted my room pink in my childhood. Since then I have been in love with this colour, and interestingly, it is still the same.

Đúng vậy, màu hồng luôn là màu yêu thích của tôi. Bố tôi đã mua cho tôi một con búp bê màu hồng xinh đẹp khi tôi mới 4 tuổi và bố mẹ tôi đã sơn phòng tôi màu hồng khi tôi còn nhỏ. Kể từ đó tôi yêu màu này, và điều thú vị là tôi vẫn thích nó như vậy.

Answer 2: White and red were my favourite colours up until I turned 19. Strangely, I started realising the importance of the blue colour when I started travelling extensively. I watched a movie titled ‘Blue’ and then did some extensive research on this colour. Besides, my fascination with the blue pair of jeans also enhanced my weakness in this colour.

Trắng và đỏ là những màu tôi yêu thích cho đến khi tôi 19 tuổi. Kỳ lạ thay, tôi bắt đầu nhận ra tầm quan trọng của màu xanh khi bắt đầu đi du lịch nhiều nơi. Tôi đã xem một bộ phim có tựa đề ‘Blue’ và sau đó thực hiện một số nghiên cứu sâu rộng về màu này. Ngoài ra, niềm đam mê với chiếc quần jeans màu xanh càng làm tôi thêm yêu màu này.

3. What can you learn about a person from the colours they like?

I believe the choice of colours often represents some personality traits, and this tells a lot about a person. For instance, people who choose black as their favourite colour are often artistic and sensitive, and those who love the green colour are often affectionate, loyal and frank. Clearly, these are generic descriptions but provide the clue to assessing different personality types that exist within a group. More scientifically speaking, the choice of colours defines someone's preference and could be used to speculate that a person's life experience and preferences.

Tôi tin rằng việc lựa chọn màu sắc thường đại diện cho một số đặc điểm tính cách và điều này nói lên rất nhiều điều về một người. Chẳng hạn, những người chọn màu đen làm màu yêu thích thường là người có khiếu nghệ thuật và nhạy cảm, còn những người yêu thích màu xanh lá cây thường tình cảm, chung thủy và thẳng thắn. Rõ ràng, đây là những mô tả chung chung nhưng cung cấp thông tin quan trọng để đánh giá các loại tính cách khác nhau tồn tại trong một nhóm. Nói một cách khoa học hơn, việc lựa chọn màu sắc sẽ xác định sở thích của một người nào đó và có thể được sử dụng để suy đoán kinh nghiệm sống và sở thích của một người.

 

4. Do any colours have a special meaning in your culture?

White is considered the symbol of peace, and red for violence in our culture. Interestingly, red is sometimes referred to as the colour of friendship and sacrifice which contradicts the earlier meaning of this colour! As far as I know, green, in our country, represents nature and prosperity while yellow is the colour of sunshine and happiness. Finally, black is considered something gloomy and sad and relates to the dark past in history. However, black is often revered, by some people in our country, as the colour of intelligence and a mystical world.

Màu trắng được coi là biểu tượng của hòa bình và màu đỏ tượng trưng cho bạo lực trong văn hóa của chúng ôi. Điều thú vị là màu đỏ đôi khi được coi là màu của tình bạn và sự hy sinh, điều này trái ngược với ý nghĩa ban đầu của nó! Theo tôi được biết, ở nước tôi màu xanh lá cây tượng trưng cho thiên nhiên và sự thịnh vượng còn màu vàng là màu của ánh nắng và hạnh phúc. Cuối cùng, màu đen được coi là thứ gì đó u ám, buồn bã và liên quan đến quá khứ đen tối trong lịch sử. Tuy nhiên, màu đen thường được một số người ở nước ta tôn kính như màu của trí tuệ và thế giới huyền bí.
