1. What do you think about the differences between families in the past and today, and what have caused these changes?

In the past, there were several children in a family. But now, government has issued ‘two-child policy’ to limit the size of the family. So, there are only one or two children in a family. Couples will be pusnished financially if they have more than two children.This is ‘two-child policy’.

 

2. What is your opinion of ‘two-child policy’?

I agree with two-child policy. In fact, if we don’t apply this policy, we don’t have enough food and education to provide for a large number of people. So, government must control the population. Also, it is the best way that we can find to control population.

3. What has your government done to support families?

Our government has issued many policies such as student loans. It means that our government supports the students in poor families to continue their schooling and improve their education conditions. In addition, our government gives charity houses to old people having more difficulties or no families to take care of them.

4. How have family structures changed in Vietnam? Are the changes for better or worse?

Family structures in Vietnam have considerably changed in recent years. In the past, extended families were popular, each family had more than two children. But now, nuclear families with one or two children are popular. And I think the changes are good for our society.

 

5. What do you think the main problem of family life in Vietnam these days?

In my opinion, the main problem of family life in Vietnam these days is that parents don’t spend their much time on their children. They’re busy with work, so children don’t get more care from their parents. As a result, many children become autistic or commit crime.
